Deadline actress Tammy Blanchard has been revealed as the first major casting announcement for The Good Wife.

CBS confirmed that Blanchard - who won an Emmy in 2001 for her supporting role in Life With Judy Garland - will join The Good Wife as a confidante to Cary (Matt Czuchry) and assistant to Glen Childs (Titus Welliver).

                                                     

Although her recurring character's name has not been revealed, she is described as "fair-minded assistant state's attorney who looks more like an indie-band drummer than a lawyer".

There are rumours that Chris Sarandon will return as the po-faced and domineering Judge Goode.

Meanwhile, Justified regular Jacob Pitts will guest star as an arrogant website owner in the season two premiere episode, the date of which is yet to be announced.
